Our programme

You will follow the European Baccalaureate (EB) programme during your years in the Upper Secondary. The EB is similar to the Danish STX, but it has an international twist and gives you the freedom to mix and match subjects to suit your interests.

What is the EB?

The European Baccalaureate is an upper secondary diploma recognised across all EU countries, including Denmark, as well as in many countries outside the EU. With the EB diploma, you have the same opportunities as students graduating from a Danish gymnasium, and your grades are easily converted to the Danish grading scale.

4 reasons to choose the EB

International opportunities

You have the unique opportunity to study a semester abroad in S5 (1.g) and immerse yourself in a new culture while staying with a host family. You’ll also go on study trips with your class to exciting European cities, and can even apply to spend a week in the European Parliament in Brussels. Get involved in organising our annual International Evening to celebrate cultural diversity, or join our Model United Nations group and experience world politics up close.

Community

With three classes in each year-level, you'll join a small community where there is room for everyone. Our students know each other across languages and year groups, and you’ll quickly feel at home. There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved in (or organise) clubs, activities, and events.

Mix and match your subjects

The EB programme gives you freedom to shape your own education. You can choose to study all the sciences or arts at a high level, study multiple languages, or simply combine subjects to suit you.

Global perspective with Danish traditions

You'll study in more than one language and you’ll make friends and be taught by teachers from all over the world – all while celebrating Danish traditions like getting your "studenterhue" (graduation cap) and “køre vogn” (celebrating graduation by driving in trucks).

University opportunities

With the EB diploma, you can apply to all Danish universities on the same terms as students with an STX, HHX, HF, or HTX diploma. The EB is equally recognised for university admission across the EU, the UK, and in many countries across the world. Our study counsellors and teachers will make sure you receive guidance to help you make the right subject choices for your chosen career path or further education.

Which subjects will I study?

  • Your first language (Danish, English, or French)
  • At least one foreign language at a high level (such as French, German, or English)
  • History and geography in the foreign language you have chosen
  • Mathematics at the level you choose
  • At least one science subject, philosophy, physical education and religion
  • Various optional subjects

You will have between 31 and 35 lessons per week, and you can adapt your choices to fit your interests and future plans. If you aim to study science or mathematics at the highest level, you can select advanced courses.
