Parents Council
The Parents Council is made up of parents who are elected as class representatives in Primary and Secondary and it helps ensure that the parental perspective is heard and taken into account in the day-to-day development of the school.
Purpose and role of the Parents Council
The Parents Council works to support a positive, well-functioning school environment by:
- bringing parents’ views, questions and concerns to the attention of school management
- contributing ideas and feedback on school life and school development
- helping to strengthen cooperation and communication between home and school
How can I become a parent representative?
At the beginning of each school year in August, parents in every class elect one parent representative. These representatives form the Primary Parents Council and the Secondary Parents Council.
Each representative speaks on behalf of the parents in their child’s class. They are the point of contact if parents wish to raise questions, ideas or issues to be discussed in the Parents Council.
How often do the Parents Councils meet?
The Parents Council meets three times a year in both Primary and Secondary. Meetings are attended by school management and usually one or more members of staff.
During the meetings, parent representatives:
- share input from their class
- discuss common topics across classes and sections
- receive information and updates from the school
Meeting minutes
Meeting minutes from the Parents Council meetings are available through the school's Aula. The minutes are only available for parents with children at the school.
